Midwife Appointment

So I was not looking forward to seeing the midwife today and dragged myself along to it. To my suprise I was called in 5 mins early and the midwife was actually quite nice. I told her how rubbish I've been feeling bla bla bla and she was really nice about it. All is well with babe and all checks were clear for me too. She's also referred me to a pregnancy physio for my back (I'd usually go to a chiropractor but I'm skint!) which is awesome.
I then trotted off to the hospital to get my blood test, grumbling at the extortionistic car parking costs and how far I had to park from the doors. I marvelled at how much better my hospital phobia has got and patted myself on the back for being so nice and calm. Wandered around the hospital trying to find the right place for ages, finally found the place, got a ticket and waited my turn. Get to my turn and sit in the chair, "oh" the nurse says, "your form is blank, we cant do the blood test" ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! So I pay for the parking, walk the seemingly miles back to the car, drive all the way back to the surgery, find a parking space, queue back up to see the receptionist. "No one filled in my form!" I grumble. They apologise and say this never happend before (just my luck *sigh*) and get it filled in. I go to make my way back to the hospital and check the clock...the blood clinic is now closed ARGHHHHHHHH! ARGHH, ARGHHHHHH!!! FFS!! Now I have no more days off work either so can't go for the stupid blood test another day, bollocks and buggery!!

Detroit Metal City

At a recent Anime convention we were recommended Detroit Metal City so we decided to check it out. It's about a guy who wants to be a cute pop star but ends up in a death metal band called Detroit Metal City, very adult with lots of bad language but very funny if you are into metal at all. If you like Metalocalypse you will totally dig this. We watched half the series tonight and will probably watch the other half tommorow if I can stay up past 9pm hehe!

Trying to get an appointment

So I'm feeling proper miserable about still feeling so rubbish and have decided I really should try and get the blood test and ring the midwife. Here's how it went, I'm having to ring at work so I'm trying to ring between customers in the shop...

I ring the surgery 10.15am - listen to 5 mins message about swine flu and prescriptions before waiting another 5 mins ringing for someone to pick up the phone. I can pick up a new blood test request form after all hooray! Shame I can only pick it up in office hours so will have to get someone to work so I can pick it up, but fair enough I did lose the first one. Ask if I could have the number for the midwife, after a long discussion in the back ground about Yorkshire tea and who drinks it (which to be fair is great stuff) they decide they can't find the number and can I call back later.

I ring at 11am listen to the 5 min swine flu/prescription message again but give up after 5 mins ringing out

I ring again 11.15am and now the lovely swine flu message seems to take longer than ever before I wait...and wait but no one picks up *sigh*

I ring again 11.50am after listening to the swine flu message and feeling like I'm fast losing the will to live, someone finally picks up, and even better they have the number, result!!!

11.53am ring midwife - who tells me crossly I should have booked an appointment (wow, i'm meant to know this how? Psychic powers?) She tells me she can probably fit me in tommorows clinic at a push, and I have to ring ...wait for it....the surgery to book....well F&*%ing great!

11.55 I ring surgery and by now know the swine flu number off by heart, which actually may come in handy! No one can be bothered to actually answer the phone tho and after 7 mins I give up

12.02 I ring optimistically one last time and after a nearly 10 min wait someone picks up...but they ask if i can hold and I sit through 5 mins of elevator music, this can't be good for my blood pressure I swear. Eventually though I manage to get an appointment for tommorow, HOORAY!!

District 9

So we're stuck in the house with me being all puffed out and ill, doubly so now we are totally skint. OH has cleverly managed to download a cam job of District 9, which isnt even out for a few weeks. I was suprised to find that it was AWESOME!!! If you like gritty realistic type films, like Rec. or 28 Weeks Later you are gonna love this too. It was so good that I think we will go watch it in the cinema too as we missed the full special effects .
